Han Baoju is a character in the wuxia novel Legend of the Condor Heroes written by Louis Cha.
Han Baoju was one of the Seven Freaks of Jiangnan and was nicknamed 'Horse Deity' for his excellent skills in taming wild steeds and his strong passion and love for horses. He owned a precious steed and was also the cousin of Han Xiaoying, another member of the Seven Freaks. Also, Han Baoju was described to have a comically short and round appearance. Huang Rong even teased him once by calling him 'Shortie'.
He followed the other six Freaks to Mongolia in search of Guo Xiaotian's widow Li Ping and her unborn son Guo Jing. The Freaks had previously made an agreement with Qiu Chuji to track down the widows and unborn sons of Guo Xiaotian and Yang Tiexin respectively, nuture the child into a fine martial artist and meet again eighteen years later for a contest between the two young men. After a long and harsh period of searching, the Freaks found Li Ping and the young Guo Jing and were overjoyed. However, they were not very pleased when they realised Guo Jing was quite slow-witted.
Nevertheless, they managed to train Guo Jing into a fine martial artist, equipped with the necessary skills to take on Yang Tiexin's son at the age of eighteen. Han Baoju was eventually killed at Peach Blossom Island along with Han Xiaoying, Nan Xiren, Zhu Cong, Quan Jinfa by Yang Kang and Ouyang Feng. He died under the 'Nine Yin White Bone Claws' of Yang Kang beside the coffin inside the tomb of Feng Heng. His horse died in the Peach Tree Grove at Ouyang's hands - his chains had also been shattered in that location, fulfilling what he had always taught Guo Jing: "the person is alive when the chain is whole; when the chain is not whole its master is no longer alive."
